Creating diverse regional chapters is a strategic move towards fostering inclusive LGBT coverage across India’s bustling metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, and beyond. By establishing such localized hubs, we not only amplify the voices of the LGBT community but also tailor our support and resources to address the unique challenges and triumphs specific to each region. These chapters serve as vital platforms for advocacy, education, and community-building, bridging geographical gaps and ensuring that no corner of the country is left untouched by the movement for equality and acceptance.

Moreover, our initiative goes beyond individual empowerment to extend a supportive hand to parents navigating the complexities of having LGBT children. Through curated networks of like-minded parents, we offer a safe space for sharing experiences, insights, and advice. By fostering these connections, we empower parents to better understand and support their LGBT children, dismantling misconceptions and nurturing familial bonds grounded in love, respect, and acceptance. Together, we strive not only to raise awareness but also to cultivate a society where every individual, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, is celebrated and embraced for who they are.

THIS IS A FORM TO FACILITATE SIGNING-IN OF PARENTS FOR PARENTS’ SUPPORT GROUP

Some of the parents of LGBTQIA+ persons in Mumbai have started a Parents’ Support Group for parents of LGBTQIA+ persons, so that they can share information & resources and act as a support structure for parents who are already out and accepting, as well as those still grappling with issues related to their children.

The group has a CLOSED SECRET Whatsapp and Facebook group, as well as meets periodically so they can interact freely to discuss their own experiences, and dilemmas, as well as discuss public action and way forward for the group.

While there have been several parents’ meets and acceptance meets organized by Gay Bombay and Yaariyan where parents and children have spoken openly about their lives and acceptance, seldom have parents have been able to sit together amongst themselves to discuss freely their concerns.

Solaris Pictures organized a Parents’ Support Group Workshop where 10 parents came together for a day-long workshop to discuss behind closed door, the possibilities of forming a structured support group. Several points of action have come forward that the group can discuss and take ahead.
